A Perfect Circle News - New Album?

According to a Boston Radio station, we got this statement issued:

"Maynard has back-burnered his project with Trent Reznor for the time
being , as the timing isn’t right. Trent is too busy working on a project with his girlfriend. Maynard said he has already recorded the new APC tracks, and will be heading to the studio to place the finishing touches on them as soon as he gets off the road with Tool.... The new APC album will be out by the end of the year. After that, APC will do a small world-wide tour starting in January 2011, that may or may not be expanded later. And after the tour wraps up, he will then be heading back to the studio with Reznor for a new project. Great things are happening".

Keenan + Reznor + Inferred Others? = Tapeworm?

We shall see.

I am stoked for new APC though.

Both the soundtrack and the “Blood Into Wine” DVD release are set for a September 07th release date. Also slated for release on that date is the vinyl edition of C Is For (Please Insert Sophomoric Genitalia Reference HERE) EP. It will feature two live bonus tracks as well.

In addition to this influx of news (which is a little old, but I haven't had this blog for long so have mercy on me), on the official Puscifer website on the streaming music player the Nagual del Judith Mix of The Humbling River is now streaming. So check it out.

Primus Releases Rehearsal EP

Primus, after a 7 year hiatus, has reformed with all original members. This includes Les Claypool, Larry LeLonde and Jay Lane (the original drummer before the massively popular and talented Tim Alexander).

The band reformed in Spring 2010 and evidently did live rehearsals in June. Luckily the band has been nice enough to give us a taste of their work before heading out on Tour later this year by offering a free 4 track EP of the rehearsals for download on their official webite, details below.

A Perfect Circle News - Twitter Activated

A Perfect Circle, which has been dormant for nearly 6 years, is finally in working mode as Maynard James Keenan and Billy Howerdel are sidelining to collaborate once more. With Keenan being pre-occupied with Puscifer and Tool and Howerdel with ASHES dIVIDE for a few years it seemed as if A Perfect Circle's hiatus was more or less its demise but fear not, talk of new endeavors and work is on the rise. Comments and news updates point to following initial news outlets from each musician's current musical projects until recently. Much debate and talk of getting a lone twitter account transferred from someone of no official affiliation of the band has finally been achieved and activated. It seems as if A Perfect Circle is reborn. Be on the lookout for any news regarding the project. Be sure to check back here for the latest news on the band!

Josh Freese, the last drummer of APC, posted this on his Facebook:

I'm happy to report that A Perfect Circle is waking up from it's 6 year slumber...and we're going to be "doing stuff" soon.

Billy Howerdel from Twitter hints at Fall release?:

APC is on my mind. This is me officially telling you that things are happening!
Stay tuned for more info. The fall is right around the corner....
Also judging from a recent tweet, it looks like we have these guys on board for the lineup:

Review #2 - Lady GaGa's The Remix

This little mini LP compilation between The Fame Monster and the Lady's untitled third album is a good club pleaser.

Things to know - Several editions of this exist (each with different tracks and artwork); it serves as a remix album/best of compilation; my review is for the physical edition of the album availible in the United States.

Anyways my review shall begin. The album offers a few remixes that are 'fan and club goer favorites' mixed by some of the best and current DJs and electronic music groups on the scene today. Such remixers are: Richard Vission, Passion Pit, Chew Fu and Stuart price among others.

The good thing about this compilation is the fact that the tracks included all feature a completely different tempo and style for each track as well as a few unreleased, official remixes not availible for download or on singles (LoveGame Chew Fu Ghettohouse Fix feat Marilyn Manson & Dance In The Dark Monarchy 'Stylites' Remix). I'm also pleasantly surprised that the compilation features remixes by artists whom don't get nearly enough attention as they should, I'm looking at Chew Fu in particular.

Overall it's a fun listen, danceable and a decent tide over until GaGa's third LP, which is due out in sometime early 2011.

Rating - 8/10 (Good selection of tracks but nothing much new to be heard songwise)

Check Out - LoveGame (Chew Fu Ghettohouse Fix feat. Marilyn Manson), Telephone (Passion Pit Remix feat. Beyonce) and Dance In The Dark (Monarchy 'Stylites' Remix)

Review #1 - Arcade Fire's The Suburbs

It has been over 3 years since Arcade Fire has released any material of any sort. Though today they released their full length third album, The Suburbs. I bought the album today along with Lady GaGa's The Remix (which a review will be in a later blog).

The album is rich in sound and different tones to underline each song. I feel their song writing is at their best on this album, it certainly has no filler tracks and I found that the flow from song to song in the tracklisting to be quite complimentary. Certain tracks do indeed stick out more than others, but that the case with most albums by any artist. The band chose a good, strong single to be the initial single for the album; the very involved title track. It has a great structure and a catchy chorus. Arcade Fire has always been good at doing that and this album shows it. It has some outstanding tracks and most have a good sound key to the album's tone. Good work, I'm loving this album right now.

Not much is needed to be talked of with this album other than it was worth the money and if you're into a soundscape of different guitar signatures and various genre stylings than this album is for you. I really enjoyed it. I wish I could put into words more of how I feel about it but it is difficult after only listening to it once thus far. Maybe I'll revisit this review later on in the future? Before I close this (and every other review from here on out) I will leave a rating out of 10 and offer my idea for signature, key songs to listen to.

Rating - 10/10 (Contender of Album of the Year for me along a few other notable albums!)

Check out - The Suburbs, Modern Man, Suburban War and Month of May

Third time's a charm.

So basically for a third time I have decided to write this blog up for my music interests, tastes and reviews. I shall also post news to upcoming artists and bands that I enjoy. I may also be so gracious as to upload albums and such that I feel the need to share.
